1. Very disappointed
This tent seemed great the first time we used it. Poped up easily and folded down nice. The second time we used it the zipper broke on the carry bag. The third time we used it the tent started ripping along the supports in 2 places. The zippers on the tent seem like they will break soon too. I was very disappointed in the cheap material used for this tent. It ended up costing $70 with shipping to be used 3 times. We may get one more use out of this tent before it needs thrown away. It was a great idea and my 5 month old, 2 yr old, and 4 yr old seem to enjoy it but very poorly made.

2. Another great tent.
I have owned a genji pop-up beach tent for a while, and so far, it has worked wonderfully. Wanting something that could also be used for trips to the park or camping, I recently purchased this outdoor tent because it can be zipped up both in the front and back. My husband and I used it recently on our vacation and it worked great! My kids loved it, and I had an excellent afternoon nap on the beach. The way the tent zips up completely is an added convenience. It works great as a changing station. It also helps keep the bugs out of our food when we have picnics at the park!

1. Great tent
Used this tent over the weekend on an overnight float trip on the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania. It was easy to assemble and tear down -- less than five minutes... It was very comfortable sleeping two people and miscellaneous gear. It withstood a five-hour rainstorm with no issues. There was no condensation inside the tent and the ventillation was tremendous. It wasn't stuffy at all despite the damp conditions outside. The two doors are a bonus. It is easy to carry and pack, and is very lightweight. I plan on taking it to Yellowstone later this summer... Great tent for the money.

2. Exceptional Value
Being 6'5", it is often difficult to find a lightweight tent that is long enough for my frame--this tent delivers! The description suggests users up to 7' tall--but I think anyone over 6'8" or so would have their head/feet pressed to one end or the other.

Amazingly easy to set up--colour-coding and instructions on the bag--brilliant. Seams appear well sewn and the fly covers well while keeping rain and wind out. The included guy lines would be a useful tool in extreme weather, but I found the tent very stable even in high winds.

On the negative end: The vestibule size is VERY limited I found...I would have liked to see a larger fly to increase vestibule storage area. There is one on each side of the tent (at each door) and likely enough room for a single pack on each side...but barely. Entry and exit from the tent proved difficult with the fly on...but perhaps those with a smaller stature would not experience this negative?

1. This tent is amazing
I've just read all the other reviews here and I just don't get it. I purchased this tent in summer of '10. Anyone who camps knows the first thing you need to do is put some Camp Dry on your tent. We set the tent up and put Camp Dry on it. The next night we got hit with what felt like a monsoon. It was literally 24 straight hours of non-stop pouring rain. We were dry as could be. We camp a lot and everyone raves about our tent when they see it. As far as set-up goes, this tent is easier than any I've ever set up. Basically 3 poles and your done. One person can do it in 20 minutes or so but a team of two can have it done it 5 minutes. Its just me and my girlfriend who use it so there is TONS of room. The swinging door is an awesome feature and on nice evenings when you open all the windows and the rain fly is off you get a cool breeze blowing through even on the hottest of nights. As far as water puddling, make sure you pull the rain fly tight. The water is going to run off and pool...

2. Big Tent perfect for family camping
After owning a previous tent for over ten years, it was time for a new one. I have skimped on price before but ultimately wound back up with the Coleman line. They just sell great reliable product. I did a lot of research and decided to go with the Coleman WeatherMaster 10 tent. I have two young daughters and my wife, this tent is the perfect size for a long weekend.
I set it up by myself in about 20-25 minutes. I recommend getting some help and the time will be cut in half. It was very easy to set up, although the directions sewn inside the bag are a little rough to read. I suggest printing out a copy from Coleman's website and follow them. Definitely set the tent up before you head out to familiarize yourself with it. You will see it is very easy.
It is a very large and roomy tent. It only has two spacious rooms, but do you really need more than that?? I have seen other reviews where people had mentioned it looked cheaply constructed. I disagree! The seams...

Excellent For The Dollars
Went round and round for a large tent for car camping, you know, when the whole tribe goes.
Got out this weekend for the first time with the WeatherMaster 10.

1) Setup was easy with one person, pretty windy so the fly was a little bit of a challenge, but doable alone.
2) Well made, well designed product. We had three full size men in there, all with oversized cots and all our gear. Pleanty of room.
3) Ventilates really well.
4. FULL DAY of steady rain on Saturday, found only one leak in a corner, maybe 3 tablespoons of water; didn't have time to get the seams sealed before heading out. Will cover that when I set it up to clean. Did very well though, it was a LOT of rain.

1. Not bad for the price paid!
I bought this because my husband and I were going backpacking and I didn't want to carry too much weight. I also didn't have much money to spend on a new tent. This tent weighs under 4 lbs. It's a tight fit for two adults, but manageable. I'm 5'7" so someone taller might find it too short.

I think my only complaint is that there was quite a bit of condensation on the inside by morning, so if you are sleeping right against the walls, you are going to get a little wet. I slept in my multi-use rain poncho, so it didn't bother me, but my hubby was cold.

It also comes with a bag, which is nice.

2. Not Bad, Not Good
The tent is alright for a quick little trip. It goes up fairly quickly and easily and has plenty of space for one person. If you're as tall as I am though, or anything over six foot, you may have to sleep diagonally in it to fully stretch out.

Unfortunately it does have a lot of downsides, but what would you expect from a tent at this price? First, and most baffling of all, is the little window on the back. It does indeed have a zip-down flap to cover it but this flap is located on the EXTERIOR. If, say, you want to close it in the middle of the night, you will have to go outside to do so.

The tent stakes it comes with are about as flimsy as cardboard, but it's easy to get better stakes. The out flaps that cover the doors only have nylon ties with which to tie them together. If you don't tie them in a perfect bow, they might slip and become your average knot and unless you are a rather small person, you won't be able to get out until you untie the knot which may...

This tent easy to set up, has some great features, and is priced well. As with all tents (in my opinion) you will need to use a seam sealer, especially in corners and attachment points (or it will leak). I really like the hinged door and the roll up window. The light is also a welcome addition. Overall, I really like this tent... now for some less than great points to consider...

I have a high queen air mattress. Because of the steep angle of the walls, you must place the mattress 1 - 1 1/2 feet away from any wall...or it will leak. So the idea that you have this huge tent changes to it is really great for 2 adults with a queen bed and 2 dogs. We have plenty of room, but 2 queen beds would not be possible without getting wet. Also,the idea of 2 rooms... no way with a queen bed.

I was really disappointed to find the variflo adjustable ventilation feature was omitted from my tent. This feature would be welcome when it is really hot out... Coleman has...

2. Awesome Tent
Can't say enough good about this tent. The lighting system is great for those 3 am excursions to the nearest tree. The 'hinged' door keeps you from zipping/unzipping each and every time through the door. It is worth while to buy a dozen heavy duty steaks rather than rely on the ones included. We withstood very high winds and rain - stayed dry and tight - no issues. After a dry run - it only takes 10 minutes to set up and about 15 mins to take down. Expandable case allows for less than perfect rolling-up and storage - quick and easy. Shop around Amazon - we found this at an Amazon merchant for $158 plus shipping.

1. Evanston 6 first impressions out of the box
Here are my first impressions of my new Coleman Evanston 6 after I set it up for the first time. Plus some product details I wasn't able to find before the purchase.

I set it up alone. Two long black poles, two long grey poles, a short black pole for the rear window bow, color coded sleeves, no confusion, no mix ups. The poles are very long and bendy. I found it easier to feed the poles in section by section, unfolding as you go rather than following the instructions to unfold them completely first. The fabric sleeves are not reinforced so check the pole ends and ferules for burrs and sharp edges and feed them in carefully. It was also easier to bow and raise the tent with just the two black poles and then feed the front grey pole after. Less weight to wrestle and less floppy ends sticking out. Toss one of the guy strings over the top and then pull the rain fly carefully over. Then install the last grey pole in the awning and stake everything out. There are several velcro...

2. good but not great
This is a nice tent that comfortably accomodated two adults and two children. It was fairly easy to set up and has helpful features with a vestibule awning to divert rain. The only negative is that the loops through which the external tent poles pass are not reinforced in any way. So I already have a slight tear on one of them after using it the first time. You have to be very careful passing the poles through the fabric. Overall it is very light and seems a bit fragile. But for the price, and with care, it will be a very good tent for us and our grandchildren. I would definitely recommend setting it up on a tarp.

Coleman Evanston 6
I received the tent this week and knew I had to set it up before I took it camping. It barely fit on our deck, this thing is huge! I really like the open feeling it gives, very tall, ample room, and appears sturdy. Setup was done in the typical style of a dome tent. It had two fiber poles(much better than the old wood ones) that crossed each other, then a third hoop to lift up the front a little. This was very straight forward. I set it up by myself and it only took me about fifteen minutes, first time. I haven't tried the rain-fly yet.
Again, I really like the size, being able to stand in a tent is really nice.

What I didn't like was how the material felt a little thin. I actually tore a little 1/8th inch hole in the pole guide while barely pushing. This is not your grandpa's canvas tent! I just kept easing the pole through and working the fabric. I will also be getting a tarp for under the tent, as that is not as substantial as I would like it to be.

I paid just over $104.00 for the Wenzel Great Basin tent on sale and it is HUGE. We immediately set it up in my backyard for two weeks as I sealed the seams (more about that later).

My kids slept in it one of those nights and it was rained on several different days and subjected to high winds (30-40 mph gusts) a couple of days with no problems but some slight leakage in the staked corners and where the pouches were stitched on the inside. These leaks occurred BEFORE I sealed the seams. Once the tent's seams were sealed, my wife and I inspected it thoroughly from inside during one of the steady rains we had while it was set up in the backyard and found no leakage at all. (See the last paragraph for information about seam sealing.)

My only concerns about this tent are:

1. The fly doesn't extend out quite far enough over the ends to cover the windows. If you left those windows open during a rain, you'd get water in the tent. (Fortunately the fly does...

2. This tent is HUGE
This tent was a lot bigger than I expected it to be, which is a good thing. It is very roomy, so if you have a lot of people (or just a lot of stuff), this will work great. There is enough room for multiple adults to stand up straight without hitting their heads on the ceiling. Despite the fact that it is so big, it is very easy to set up (I set it up on my own, with no help). My only complaint is that the air circulation is rather poor. The windows are rather small compared to the size of the tent, so unless you have the rain fly off, it is very stuffy.

1. design flaw or defective?
on the plus side, it didn't leak in a severe rain storm and has a lot of capacity for the cost. on the negative, the zippers were constantly getting snagged on the fringe around them...it was ridiculous to have to keep untangling it every time i opened and closed the tent. maybe i had a defective one, but it seemed more like a design flaw. i've had great luck with wenzel tents in the past (cheap and usually very reliable), but i'd skip this model. the door's zipper eventually got so snagged that i had to cut it out in order to have some kind of functioning door, and the tent got ended up getting abandoned after one use. displeased.

2. Good for the price; time will tell
Just received this tent yesterday; my husband (who has experience erecting dome tents) was able to put it up alone. I have tent camped since I was a small child, am now >50 and am no stranger to tents. This is a decent tent for the money.

The Pros:

Easy set up

Excellent "bath tub" bottom which is weld seamed ......... the bottom is polyethylene which is much more
durable than nylon taffeta which is very commonly used. The bath tub style bottom comes up about 4" from the
bottom, wrapping along all sides of the tent. It is not sewn .......... it is "welded" somehow (hot pressed glue
perhaps?); there are no thread seams on the bottom edges of the tent - very important if it rains! (" The sonic-sealed,
polyethylene tub-style floor, meanwhile, is welded and not sewn, eliminating needle holes that might otherwise attract

on the plus side, it didn't leak in a severe rain storm and has a lot of capacity for the cost. on the negative, the zippers were constantly getting snagged on the fringe around them...it was ridiculous to have to keep untangling it every time i opened and closed the tent. maybe i had a defective one, but it seemed more like a design flaw. i've had great luck with wenzel tents in the past (cheap and usually very reliable), but i'd skip this model. the door's zipper eventually got so snagged that i had to cut it out in order to have some kind of functioning door, and the tent got ended up getting abandoned after one use. displeased.

I absolutely love "BabyLegs" legwarmers. Not only is there a large variety of styles to choose from, but they are very practical as well. These legwarmers make changing your baby's diaper a snap. Instead of unzipping/unbuttoning footed sleepers or pulling off pants, you simply unsnap the onesie he's got on and the legs remain covered. Perfect!

I used this all summer as I haven tented in over 20+ years. Let me tell you this is the tent, it's got a rain cover that actually keeps rain out and the fly also creates on both sides covered areas to keep gear dry. The tent also features only two tent poles and clips. Bottom line you don't need to feed poles through nylon. You can put this up in less than 3 minutes if need be. Lay it out, temp stake it, insert poles, clip, clip, clip, clip and tie the top. Done. Rainfly is colored key so you know exactly how it goes on.

I love this tent so much I bought Eureka! Apex 3XT - Tent (sleeps 3) for myself and son. Don't get me wrong you could fit two people in the 2XT but it's without a clothing bag and other tent gear. (Very cool feature) There are tie down points on the rain fly for both vestibule enterance points. You need to do this! I will explain later. The tent is equiped with duel vestabules (doors) and ventilation ports on both ends of the tent to minimize condensation.

UPDATE: As noted below, my rain fly came with the wrong clasp on one corner and it wouldn't fit into the keeper. I contacted Ledge Sports a few days ago and explained to "Seth" the problem. I half expected him to tell me I'd have to ship it back to Amazon. Instead, he apologized, got my mailing address and said he'd send a new clip.

Holy Crap! Today a package shows up containing a complete rain fly! I was only expecting a clip and that would have been enough. What's more, this rain fly has the vinyl window in it. It's been a while since customer service "anywhere" has floored me like this. Wow. I wish more companies would realize (like Ledge apparently does) that I'll give them first chance to take my money the next time because of this. (Note to all sellers: It's really that simple).

Also, I've been waiting on a storm and finally got one. A soaker - 2 inches of rain in 20 minutes. Not a single drop inside other than what puddled from my clothes after climbing...

Huge Tent -- Actually Sleeps 9 - 10
This is an enormous tent. I camped in it last weekend with my wife and two kids (ages 1 and 4).

We experienced light rain, which the tent easily kept out. It is airy and well-ventilated and sets up without too much trouble. I've set up a lot of tents, so was able to do it myself. However, two people are recommended.

The box that it comes in identifies it as a tent that sleeps 9 - 10. Incredible price, great value, solid construction.

I purchased this tent early last summer (2010). I did A LOT of research, reading reviews, checking features, etc. This tent was a bit more than I initially wanted to spend, but it has been worth it. At first I was looking at the "throw away" tents that rarely give you more than a year of use from department stores. The main thing I wanted to make sure my tent could do was to resist leaking, and most department store tents do not do that consistently. This tent has not leaked at all, and when I say not at all, I mean not a drop. I'm not one who would be satisfied with a tent that only gets a few small drops of water in one of the corners along the seem. To me, not leaking is not leaking.

There is a lot of room inside this tent. Two queen-sized mattresses and a double-sized mattress easily fit in this tent, leaving plenty of room for bags also inside the tent. Air flow through the tent is great, but reduced a little with the rain cover on (obviously).

We bought the Kelty Parthenon 8-person tent to replace our 5 year old Kelty Valhalla 5 which we love, but have outgrown. Sadly, there aren't tons of choices when looking for a tent capable of sleeping 8+ people without having to compromise in one area or another. Either you go the cheap route and know that you are going to have to buy a new tent after a year or two or you spend upwards of $700-$1,000 on some crazy technical tent that you are almost scared to set up because you fear that you are going to ruin it the first time out. High-Quality Huge Tent
The 8 person Kelty Parthenon tent is a well-made, roomy, 3 season tent that is ideal for a family. I wouldn't want to try to squeeze 8 into the tent--4 or 5 would be ideal. We've only used it once, but it kept us dry during a heavy rain. The rain test is one of the most important for a tent, and this one passed with flying colors. It has a "door" that allows you to divide the tent into two compartments, a skylight type of window in the top, a rain fly, and storage pockets inside for odds and ends. The only negative is that the poles attach to the tent with plastic clips that appear to be weak enough to cause an eventual failure. Overall we are happy with the purchase.

This tent is perfect. It's light-weight, compact, and as sturdy as the hoover dam. There is plenty of room for two people plus gear, or three people if you leave the gear out (or cram it all in... your choice). The stakes are worthless, as others have noted, and should not be relied on; it would be worth the investment to buy some higher grade stakes. Haven't had a chance yet to test out the rain fly in action, but I hear good things, so I feel good things in return.

Bottom line, If you're looking for a light-weight, compact, but spacious and high-quality tent for 2-3 people, then look no further. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

When the clouds cleared the temp dropped some more freezing the rain on the tent. The tent ended up sitting in water puddles that collected on our water barrier BUT on the inside my son and I were dry. With only 2 of us in the tent the top vents were enough to keep condensation from forming inside. We had to pack it away wet so I set it back up at home and let it air dry for a couple of hours then wiped it down and put it away.

Pros: Quick setup. Good rain protection ( great rainfly )

Cons: Instructions, if you need them, could be improved.

2. Fall/Winter tent
This tent held up very well in rain over a 3 day camping trip. Although as it says in the title, this tent would be better suited for Fall and Winter seasons. The reason is because their isn't that much air flow throughout the tent. It got quite stuffy in there with only 3 people. However the quality of the tent is great and the price is unbeatable. Alps definitely make a great tent for the money! The rain fly is excellent and very effective.

This is as basic & no thrills as you get for a tent. It is meant for emergency use or for light applications only. Its very small & packable for day-packs, BOB's, GHB's, car etc. It is very bright & attention getting which is what you want in an emergency situation. It comes with some very cheap cord to use for setting it up. The cord is worthless & will not hold up if used around trees with rough bark or tied around rocks. Toss the supplied cord & carry either some 550 para-cord or tarred nylon twine instead.

2. Cheap, and also low priced
Tube tents are about the same material as a garbage bag. Hopefully no one thinks they can buy much of a tent for the price of a tube tent. I'd be happier if I could get a 10 or 12 foot tube tent. Since it stays open at both ends, it would be nice to have more overhang past my sleeping bag.

Review on the Kelty Salida 4. This tent was purchased for car camping at a campground.
As most reviews have stated, this tent goes up in a snap! Plenty of room on the inside for myself and a dog. As this is a 4 person tent, we could have easily accommodated one more person. 4 might be stretching it with gear. Rain and t-storms the first night. The tent preformed great in the storm. No leaks from above or below. Just a couple of items I'd like to note: Buy 4 good tent stakes, the ones that come with the tent do not hold well in sandy soil. Use the 4 good ones to stake the corners of the tent, use the supplied stakes for the vestibule and guy wires. Take down does not goes as quickly as set up. Try to dry the tent and fly as much as possible before putting it in the case. You will need a footprint for this tent. I used on old fly that was still in good condition from a previous tent. This Backpacking Tents give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Good UL Tent but not really a 2 man tent.
The Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 has some excellent points: it's lighter in weight and more packable then some single person tents out there, it's easy to pitch, and it's a stable design. I see it becoming my go-to tent out of the four tents I own for most of my upcoming backpacking trips. I purchased it so that I would have a tent large enough to take my dog with me on camping trips, and it actually weighs less than the single person tent I've been using and is also more packable.

However, it is not really a 2-man tent, unless you plan on cuddling. It would make a great tent for 1 person + gear, or 1 person + dog, or 2 children, or a couple that didn't mind sleeping pressed up against one another. But for two full sized adults that want a little gap between them, I see it as being too small. The vestibule is rather small, also, so really what this tent would be ideal for is 1 person and their gear (in the tent).

I purchased my BA Fly Creek II from HumbleOutdoors for about $270, it came with a free BA footprint.

This tent comes in at just over 2 lbs , making the Fly Creek II an ultralight dream tent. The tent pitches fast, and hods up in fairly strong gusts on Maine coast islands(I kayak camp). I just finished my second season with this tent and it still feels and looks new.
