Mountainsmith Genesee 4 Person 3 Season Tent (Lotus Blue)

Genesee is a 3 Season, 4 Person Tent. Weight 6lbs, 5oz.
  • Three Season flexibility
  • Two Door / Two Vestibule layout
  • Free-standing four corner tent and Bathtub floor construction
  • Clip-pole attachment for lighter weight and better breathability
  • Tent fly ventilation windows

This Family Camping Tents give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Nice, roomy backpacking tent for two!
I bought the Mountainsmith Genessee 4 tent for my husband on Father's Day to replace a nice Trek tent that now has some holes in the rainfly due to a popping campfire that was just a little too close once and zippers that are starting to go after years of great use. We are both pleased with the Mountainsmith tent. It is slightly smaller than our 8' x 8' Trek tent. It is 8' x 7', but we both decided that we can live with the size. My husband is 6'1" and I am 5'2", and we like more room than some people inside our tents. We have smaller backpacking tents, but we take them only if space and weight are a major issue or if either of us is sleeping in it alone. There is plenty of headroom for my husband, and I have room inside the tent to store my backpack at my feet, so it doesn't have to go in the vestibule (which would be too small for storing a backpack). My husband's backpack is really big, so he doesn't plan to store it inside the tent, but I believe we could make room...

2. Great value and quality
Fantastic tent at a great price. Have used this backpacking and car camping. At ~7lbs it's not too heavy to include in a single person's pack for a day or weekend trip (I'm the pack mule when backpacking with my wife), but if you are able to split the poles or fly with another person, it's even more manageable for the money.

VERY comfortable for 2 with more gear than you can carry, three can fit comfortably, but (as with most tents), fitting 4 people as advertised will be a stretch.

Set-up could not be easier. Took 5 minutes from stuffed to fully set up on the first and second try doing it solo.

While the quality of the floor is good with the bathtub structure and taped seams, I recommend investing in the footprint (or making your own).

Fantastic tent and highly recommended.
